The Hans-Lungwitz-Institute of Psychobiological Analysis and Cognitive Therapy (HLI) has been established by physicians and psycho-therapists educated in Psychobiology and feeling obliged to the scientific achievement of Hans Lungwitz.

Focus of activities of the HLI is the practical education and post-qualification of physicians and psycho-therapists. The HLI offers a comprehensive education and training in Psycho-biological Analysis and Cognitive Therapy including the necessary prerequisites for obtaining the German supplementary title „Psychotherapie“. The education enables the physician to perform a basic psycho-somatic supply according to the administrative regulations for post-qualification established by the German General Medical Council („Psychosomatische Grundversorgung“ gemäß Weiterbildungsrichtlinien der Ärztekammern und der Psychotherapievereinbarung der Kassenärztlichen Vereinigungen).

The Psychobiology as established by Hans Lungwitz describes the so-called psychical processes as bodily functions of the brain and the nervous system. It demonstrates precisely and comprehensively the correlation between these functions and the human perception, feeling and thinking. Instead of metaphysical-psychological and causal-mechanical interpretations and explanations it presents a coherent biological conception of the human being. Psychobiology is not only biology as the science of living beings, it purely and simply is biological ontology.

The psychobiological theory of neuroses is being based on the psychobiological anthropology. In particular, it carries out the conception of development concerning the functionally disordered perception, feeling, thinking and behaviour. The Psychobiological Analysis and Cognitive Therapy of Neuroses constitutes a method of treatment which is qualified for settling the differences between ideologically delimited schools of thought concerning psycho-therapy. This is achieved through a way of thinking exclusively guided by verifiable facts without any metaphysical reference. This method proves itself to be both independent as well as fruitful for the complete spectrum of psycho-therapeutic methods of treatment of neuroses from Psycho-Analysis to Behaviour Therapy.
